Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – TAE40122
Course Description
This certification represents the skillset of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) professionals who provide training services to vocational students and carry out assessments for candidates. These roles are typically filled by individuals working within registered training organizations (RTOs), companies, community groups, schools, or various other VET settings.
The duration to complete Certificate IV in Training and Assessment generally ranges between six months and two years, depending on the learning pace.
Licensing, Legislative, and Certification Considerations
This qualification fulfills the baseline education requirement for trainers and assessors to operate independently, in compliance with relevant VET laws, frameworks, and standards. It serves as the updated version of the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Entry Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate vocational competence in the specific area they plan to teach or assess. Vocational competence refers to extensive industry knowledge and experience, which may be evidenced through possession of relevant units of competency or formal qualifications.

*Security Clearances: Some qualifications require a security clearance (e.g., police check, valid blue card and/or yellow card) in order for the student to be eligible to undertake practical and/or vocational placement. Additionally, individual host organizations may have different requirements regarding vaccinations. Please discuss these with our Administration Team during the enrolment process and/or refer to the Getmycourse website for more information. Please note there are mandatory vaccination requirements within each state and it is up to the student to ensure they are complying with their own state, territory legislation and workplace organization policies and procedures.
Please be advised the following documents will be required to be submitted with your enrolment:
- Proof of ID: Colour copy of Passport or Driver’s Licence.
- Unique Student Identification Number (USI)
- Colour copy of Certificates and Statement Results for any previously attained or partially completed qualifications completed in or recognized in Australia If you do not hold a USI Number or have forgotten your USI Number, please visit the link provided below: https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-usi
- Eligibility Check
- Submission of requirements for the enrolment
- Once everything is reviewed and approved, you will receive a Welcome Email from the Admin with instructions
- You will then be endorsed to one of our licensed trainers or Trainer assistant.
- The trainer offering the diploma of Community Service in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane will get in touch with you to talk about your experience in the industry and guide you on how to start collecting evidence and will touch base with you and give you feedback until you finish the course
- Certificate will be issued Within 12 weeks of receiving sufficient and complying evidence of competency in all applied for units of competency.
